Gamecraft September 2024 Game Jam

This weekend I participated in the 48-hour Gamecraft January 2024 Game Jam, which had the theme of Snail's Pace. For it, using Godot we created Snailspace, an arcade game where the player played a ramming spaceship that needed to move slowly to be able to penetrate enemy shields.


Overall I think this jam went very well, especially considering 3 of our 7 members were new to the team and for two of them this was their first jam. The game was fun and it was finished early meaning we had time for plenty of playtesting and balancing.


I think this can be traced to our simple game concept and flawless communications. For most of the jam, most of us were at the same table and even when we weren't there were no miscommunications.
