This week was spent balancing the map I created last week, getting it playtested, and creating two new trash models. The playtesting made the game's boringness painfully obvious, and I traced the source to a lack of interesting decisions being made since there usually was only one or two kinds of plants that could be useful in any scenario, and there was no reason not to pick up trash immediately. I believe a good way to solve this would be to make it so that plants interact with each other and have more kinds of interactions with trash. My plan for increasing integration is to add one new mechanic: plants produce resource, and they can transfer said resource to another plant in its range to either increase that plant's range, health, or resource production. Plants could also transfer resource to reduce trash damage, range, or pickup cost. It would make planning plants much more interesting as they will rely on other plants for support. This system would also replicate how ecosystems are interconnected webs and provide a simplified version of how mycorrhizal networks work as this is something really cool that not enough people know about.
