Misc Side Project
This week was spent setting up the environment for a 3D platformer. I wanted to make a mystical storm as the backdrop for the game. I originally wanted the game to take place in a canyon of clouds, but after experimenting with UE5's volumetric clouds, materials, Niagra VFX, and custom meshes, I was unable to make anything that looked good, so I just settled for normal storm clouds. Here are some of my many attempts:
I then moved on to making the VFX for each of the game's 3 elements (the player can switch between elements to make platforms appear and disappear). While I've used Niagara a bit before, these are by far the most advanced effects I've made so far. They definitely could be improved, and I plan to do so, but I am still proud of them.
