Organization and Entering Beta

Writer: Liam HealeyLiam Healey

The last couple of weeks have been spent getting back into the swing of things and preparing for our beta sprints. I began by reorganizing the art folder and recreating the repository as both had become a mess. I updated the team wiki to match these new changes, and recorded a pair of tutorials for the artists as they will now handle importing their own assets:

I also meet with the design lead on the team to come up with a complete feature & content list of everything we want to have in the game.

I also organized and led several engineering meetings, restructures the engineering team (by disolving subteams and focusing more on quicker standup meetings) and established a new check-in system for the engineers.

So far these changes have been very successful. The meetings have all been short (15-30 minutes) and productive. The restructuring has allowed several engineers who had previously spent large amounts of time idle to now contribute fully to the project, and has reduced the number and severity of merge conflicts substantially. And the new check in system has allowed the producers and me to more easily track everyone's work while also providing an easy way for engineers to receive clarifications and help with tasks.

In addition to all of these administrative tasks I also implemented the last batch of gears (weapon parts) requested by designers, and fixed a varity of bugs relating to attacks and bosses.
